Limits on Income and What You Own to Qualify for Medicaid
To qualify for Medicaid, and have Medicaid pay for your nursing home care instead of using up your life savings, your monthly income can’t be above a certain amount and the total value of what you own cannot be above a certain amount. Medicaid calls it monthly income limit and resource limit to qualify for Medicaid. There are different income limits and resource limits based on the following circumstances:
- Unmarried person in nursing home;
- Married couple with one spouse in nursing home; and
- Married couple with both spouses in nursing home.
