Who Should Know About Your
Estate Planning Documents & Other Important Information
Though you spent the time and money to prepare the estate planning documents to protect your assets and family relationships, in the event of your death or incapacity, if either were to occur, would your trustees, executors and people that you trust know any of the following:
- Location of your original estate planning documents like your trust, will, power of attorney or living will;
- Where to get copies of past 5 years income tax returns;
- Name, address, and phone number of your financial advisor handling your investments;
- Name, address and phone number of your insurance broker;
- Name, address, and phone number of person that prepares your income taxes;
- List of the financial institutions handling your investments including the name, address, phone number, type of accounts and account numbers;
- List of insurance companies handling your insurance like homeowners, car, liability, life, disability, long term care or any other type of insurance including the name, address, phone number, and policy numbers; and
- Identity and location of other valuables.
We make a list of the people you want to have this information and send them a Letter of Instruction providing it so they have the information they need when the time comes to protect your assets and family relationships.
